Scholars Portal down May 4/5

The University of Toronto’s Network Operations team has scheduled maintenance beginning Friday May 4th at 23:59 and ending May 5th at 04:00 (EST). The maintenance window is being used to upgrade existing network hardware. During this time, all Scholarsportal services (including Journals, Books, RACER, WizFolio, ODESI, GeoPortal, ASK a Librarian (OCUL-SP, not uWaterloo’s), Refworks, SFX (GetIt!), Verde) will be unavailable. We’re sorry for the interruption and appreciate your understanding.

ProQuest Maintenance Window – May 5-6, 2012

ProQuest® will be performing infrastructure maintenance starting on Saturday, May 5, 2012. A twelve (12) hour maintenance window will be required for this maintenance. The window will take place from Saturday, May 5, 2012, at 22:00 ET to Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 10:00 ET.
The following products will be unavailable during these windows:

  • New and Legacy ProQuest platform products, ProQuest Historical Newspapers (traditional and graphical K12 interface), American Periodicals Series
  • Chadwyck-Healey products with domain names ending with chadwyck.com
  • Illumina products such as Technology Research Database, Illustrata: Natural Sciences, and Sociological Abstracts
  • Genealogy and local history products including African American Heritage, Ancestry Library Edition, HeritageQuest Online, Historic Map Works Library Edition, ProQuest Obituaries and Digital Sanborn Maps
  • K-12 products, including eLibrary and SIRS
  • ProQuest Digital Microfilm and online dissertation products

ProQuest® will be rescheduling the infrastructure maintenance window planned for March 17, 2012 to Saturday, March 24, 2012. A twelve (12) hour maintenance window will be required for this maintenance. The window will take place from Saturday, March 24, 2012, at 22:00 ET to Sunday, March 25, 2012 at 10:00 ET.

ProQuest (new server) maintenance Mar 17-18

ProQuest® will be performing infrastructure maintenance on March 17, 2012. A twelve (12) hour maintenance window from Saturday, March 17, 2012, at 22:00 ET to Sunday, March 18, 2012 at 10:00 ET will be required for this maintenance.
• All products on the new ProQuest platform will be unavailable.

Elsevier Science Direct, Sciverse Scopus maintenance – Mar 17

Elsevier is implementing some upgrades to the SciVerse suite on 8:30AM EDT-9:30PM EDT, Saturday, March 17th 2012. While they expect things to go smoothly, it is possible that users may experience temporary service disruptions while accessing SciVerse, SciVal, Journal Consult and the Admin tool on these dates.

Some highlights of the upcoming changes:
• ScienceDirect: Increasing search speed and article rendering; solving issues with PDF downloading and RSS feeds

• Scopus: Increasing interoperability with Hub allows for continued discovery across web and patent sources
• Hub: Adding sortable refine results filters to make searches even more relevant

Taylor & Francis scheduled maintenance Feb 22 afternoon

Taylor & Francis Online will be undergoing maintenance on Wednesday 22nd February 2012, starting at 6pm GMT (1:00 pm EST) and finishing by 10pm GMT (5:00 pm EST). The platform will be unavailable for one hour from 6pm, and may be unavailable for a further three hours during the scheduled maintenance window. We will be doing all we can to minimize disruption to the service, and thank you for your patience whilst we perform essential work to keep things running smoothly.

SharePoint Server Maintenance: Sun Feb 12th 9am-4pm

The SharePoint service (https://sharepoint.uwaterloo.ca/sites/) will be down for a system upgrade on
Sunday, February 12th from 9:00am until 4:00pm (EST).
During the system upgrade there will be no access to any SharePoint services or SharePoint sites.

This means that SharePoint will not be available via any web browser, as a network share, or as an Outlook resource. On systems where SharePoint has been mapped as a network resource a connection error may be displayed. This error will go away once SharePoint is back online.

RSC Publishing would like to give advanced notice that the Royal Society of Chemistry Publishing Platform will be subject to maintenance at 00.00am GMT on Saturday 14th January 2012 to 00.00am Monday 16th January 2012, which may affect performance and accessibility of content.
Eastern Standard time: *19.00pm Friday 13th January 2012 to 19.00pm Sunday 15th January 2012*
This is essential maintenance required for the backend systems behind the RSC Publishing Platform and should not result in downtime but the Platform may perform slower than usual during this period. This time has been selected as it is when there is least usage on the Platform, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
