Original ISR Program
This blog is the home page for the University of Waterloo Library ISR Training Commitee’s Web 2.0 Training Program
What is the Web 2.0 Training Program?
The ISR Training Committee is offering a smaller version of the various Web 2.0 training programs that libraries around the world have been offering to their staff. It is a hands-on learning program that offers Information Desk staff the opportunity to explore a subset of Web 2.0 tools and consider the impact of those tools on libraries. By creating online modules rather than simply presenting spotlights we hope that staff will get a feel for these tools and how they can be used.
How does it work?
After the kick-off session participants will have several weeks to use freely available online tools to complete a number of exercises. Each week focuses on a specific type of tool (e.g. blogs, wikis) and each exercise will give the participant a chance to explore the tool and consider ways in which it can be used in a library environment. Participants may wish to use their blogs, which they create in Module 1, to keep track of their thoughts and reactions to the tools and technologies that they encounter.
What is the incentive?
Staff who complete all of the exercises will receive a Web 2.0 Training certificate at our wrap-up coffee break.
Watch this training video as an introduction to the program.
To receive a certificate, please let us know by April 3rd that you are participating in the training program by sending an e-mail to the ISR Training Committee (ISR-train@library…)
